Carol Potter Lecture

For the GARP we must consider the following points: ///
  • Choose a subject that I have passion for, it will help hold my interest.
  • Don't just choose a subject matter because it is more acdemic than others.
  • Try not to pigeon whole oneself but try to be original.
  • Use a 'blog' to collate all research.
  • Reference everything even if i am not directly quoting it in the text.
  • Make sure there is a balance between the formal and informal.
  • Once the subject has been chosen, make a list of potential practitioners to interview as quite a lot never respond.
  • If citing a practitoner, explain why I have chosen this person.

Early Drafts: ///

  • Proof read, then read aloud this can help.
  • Brief historical introduction.
  • Must include illustrations, this is as much a visual project as a literal.
  • On Drafts use double spacing so as to allow room for ammendments to be made by the tutor.
  • Include proposal somewhere in the GARP maybe as a separate leaflet, do not use it in the main body of the GARP.
  • Try to include Digital material ie. DVD, moving image etc.
  • Do not use poor quality images.
  • Make sure that the project is spaced out and organised effcetively so that things like layout arent left until the last minute.
  • Choose stock that suits the subject matter, it shows that though has gone into the design.
  • End Pages?? Maybe use some of my own design.
  • Maybe leave the interview as they are in the appendix.
